Are you experiencing an immediate crisis after hours? For those experiencing thoughts of suicide and for emergency crisis support:

800-447-1985

For those in need of someone to talk to about an immediate agricultural or resource need:

The Hotline is staffed by farm stress specialists who are trained to listen to concerns, connect with knowledge and helpful options, and provide southern farm-specific resources that have been vetted and documented by SAgE, setting it apart from other hotlines and support lines in the region and across the country.

SAgE Hotline specialists are also trained to help callers navigate crises, whether active or impending. Providing crisis support and coordinating with local and national suicide prevention, crisis response, and other emergency services are established best practices.  Crisis response training, procedures, and capabilities are critical when we consider the toll of farm stress on the mental health of farmers and ranchers across the region.

The SAgE Hotline also provides access to farm advocates across the region. Farmers who reach out to the Hotline can be referred to a farm advocate who will walk alongside them as they navigate operations, financial, legal, and other stressors making farming difficult. Farm advocacy is a proven way to mitigate, ameliorate, and prevent active crises for farmers and their families.

The SAgE Hotline is operated by Iowa State University Extension. Farm Advocacy is a service of the SAgE Hotline provided in partnership with Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI-USA). Farm Aid provides additional support to the SAgE Hotline by contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the needs of farmers and ranchers in the southern region.
